Leadenhall's Revolution bar has hours pegged back
Inventive Leisure's flagship Revolution vodka bar site in the City of London has had its hours pegged back from 3am to midnight

Inventive Leisure's flagship Revolution vodka bar site in the City of London's Leadenhall has had its hours pegged back from 3am to midnight throughout the week.

The new hours come after a licensing review in the wake of police complaints about violent incidents.

The bar has had conditions attached that require the use of toughened glass and a CCTV operative to provide footage of any incidents.

Inventive Leisure did, however, defeat requests from police for polycarbonate glass, an ID scheme after 9pm and the setting of airport-style search arches - the City of London licensing committee agreed these were disproportionate. Inventive boss Roy Ellis said the toughened glass and CCTV were not contentious as far as the company was concerned.

"Quite a lot of this is part of our normal modus operandi," he said.

"The new hours are not as disastrous as you might first think.

"In the City of London, the evening starts much earlier than elsewhere at 5pm to 6pm and finishes earlier."

The Leadenhall site opened eight months ago at a cost of around £2.5m.

It takes a six-figure sum every week and saw Christmas week takings of £256,000.
