A third Scottish licensee has been ordered by a judge to stop showing live Premier League football using foreign satellite equipment.

Lord Drummond Young issued an interim interdict at the Court of Session on Tuesday against McHardy Pub Company and Karen McHardy, licensee of the Thunderton House Hotel, in Elgin.

It means the pub will not be allowed to show matches using the equipment until the matter reaches a higher court.

The Premier League said it was the third successful interdict application in Scotland, claiming that it reinforced "the message that the use of foreign satellite equipment to broadcast Premier League football in the Scotland is illegal."

A spokesman said: "The Premier League will continue to seek recourse to the courts in respect of establishments purchasing foreign decoder boxes and subscribing to foreign satellite services that allow them to show matches not intended for broadcast in the UK or during the 'closed period' on Saturday afternoons."

Two suppliers of foreign satellite equipment and four licensees are due in the High Court in London next Tuesday to argue their case over the issue.
