Black Rock Grill is giving one publican the opportunity to celebrate the legendary dragon-slaying patron saint of England with a free Café Rock, its latest hot volcanic rock cooking equipment worth more than £5,000.

Ideal for adding fiery fun to any occasion, the interactive innovation uses hot volcanic rocks to turn dining into a fun, social occasion. Meat, fish, poultry or vegetables are placed on a rock heated to a scorching 440ºC and taken sizzling to the table within five minutes of ordering. It adds theatre and it's a great way to theme a menu.

For St George's Day, for example, why not team sirloin steaks with a stilton and walnut butter? Or marinate gammon in English cider and serve hot on the rock with English pickles and mustard? Or dish up sizzling chicken breasts with lashings of 'dragon's breath' - a hot chutney made with chilli and ginger?

The Café Rock oven comes with 16 rocks and does not require extraction, which means it can be sited on a back-bar or counter, or outdoors during the summer.

"With people facing rising living costs pubs must give consumers a reason to eat out," says Peter Hatter, director of Black Rock Grill.

"Occasions such as St George's Day are a perfect opportunity, but instead of a run-of-the-mill menu Café Rock can give your customers a unique experience they can't get at home."Stephanie Todd, licensee of the Atlantic Inn on the Isles of Scilly, is already benefiting from the Black Rock Grill cooking concept. "The menu now looks bigger - and better, as we use locally-sourced produce, such as scallops and beef, to add that element of provenance.

"And we've speeded up service from an hour to just 30 minutes, which is great for people who come in for something quick, and means we can turn tables more quickly, enabling us to serve more customers. What's more, we've managed to increase spend per head from between £8.50 and £10.50 to between £13 and £15."

The Café Rock package comes with full training, 16 rocks, oven, 16 porcelain platters, stainless steel underplates, Rock shovel and Rock pick.
