St George's Day: Will yours be a day to remember?
Make England and 'the English' the theme of the day. Why not try an English fancy dress competition and feature English music and food - whether it's free snacks on the bar or a full-blown medieval banquet
Celebrate English music with live bands or a DJ. You could play anything from Land of Hope and Glory to The Beatles to the Spice Girls. Just make sure it's English
Put on traditional English food, whatever that might mean to your customers - bangers and mash, steak pie, beef Wellington, fish & chips, spotted dick, toad-in-the-hole or afternoon cream tea. It's also worth remembering that chicken tikka masala is one of the most popular dishes in England!
Play England sporting events on your big screen - you can celebrate without reliving the 1966 World Cup but that's probably not a bad place to start!
Run an England-themed quiz
Contact fellow licensees in the area and get together to organise activities, such as an inter-pub sports quiz, a karaoke competition or a tug-of-war
Decorate your pub with one of the many kits available from suppliers or just be creative with bunting, flags, red and white table linen, posters and streamers
Be imaginative and different and relish in the quirkiness of the English. Relive England's Rugby World Cup win by having a Jonny Wilkinson hour or hold a competition for eccentric inventions
Use the great British outdoors to maximum effect - if you have the space, hold a mini-cricket match, book Morris dancers or other family entertainment
Organise a beer festival to celebrate the peculiar English phenomenon that is cask ale.
