Award-winning licensee John Taylor has joined Peach Pub Company as its latest joint venture partner: The deal will give John and his wife Liz a stake in a new pub operation, backed by Peach.

John has moved on from his role as general manager of the Punch Tavern in Fleet Street, London, which was named Catering Pub of the Year at The Publican Awards 2006.

At the Punch, John ran the Club Mangia all-day café offer as well as overseeing the pub's food and drink range. Across four years, sales rose from £5k to £14k a week; while the pub's outside catering business grew to a turnover of £50k a year.

"I've achieved an incredible amount in the four fantastic years I've worked in the City, and loved every minute of it, but decided last year that it was time to move out of London and set up my own business with Liz," says John.

"Between us, we've got the right combination of skills to make a go of it outside the capital; Liz is the former general manager of Asia de Cuba, St Martins Lane Hotel, London, while my passion for food and hosting comes from the fascinating time I spent on Necker Island."

The Peach joint venture scheme gives partners back of house support, allowing them to focus on customer service and quality.

"John has a really strong vision for what his new business is going to be like, and this, coupled with the amazing experience he's had of running exceptional award-winning pubs all adds to our excitement at having him on board," said Hamish Stoddart, co-founder of Peach Pubs.

"He's already making waves at the Fishes, North Hinksey Village, where he's working in between looking for a site somewhere between Slough, Southampton and Reading. Everyone's relishing the challenge of creating the next successful Peach joint venture partnership and building a profitable business together."
