Use:

Mixed buffet dessert (x 6 pieces) served with dipping sauces (£3.50)

Malcolm says: A fantastic, good quality product. A venue could become quite renowned for them. The brownies were awesome; the Tia Maria profiteroles had a mixed bag of comments, and the pancakes were a novelty item.

Stock? No, but would recommend to pub restauranty pubs.

Use: As a buffet item

Justine says: This eye-catching product has gone down a storm with all types of customer. The desserts are easy to use as they defrost so quickly. Good for buffets, sharing platters or serving a few together as individual desserts.

Stock? Definitely. They're something different. Worth buying in as they would be quite fiddly to make yourself.

Product: Mövenpick balsamic vinegar sorbet

PR: Usually associated with savoury dishes, the balsamic vinegar used in the sorbet is from the culinary-acclaimed region of Modena near Bologna in Northern Italy. It is available in 2.4 litre tubs at £9.95 each.

PubChef verdict: Delightfully different. An innovative and interesting addition to any menu. The sorbet was a perfect partner to strawberries. Will satisfy both sweet and savoury palates.

Product: McCain herby onion scoops

PR: Quarter cut slices of onion coated in a light and crispy herb batter. Great for contemporary menus. Twist on the traditional onion ring. Can be deep fried from frozen in two to two and a half minutes.

PubChef verdict: The crowning glory of our chicken sandwich, which had three onion scoops skewered onto the top. Adds a new twist to a simple snack and an original alternative to the onion ring. Tasty.

Product: Great Australian Pie Company pies

PR: There is no artificial colouring, flavouring or preservatives. The short-crust pastry is made with sustainably-sourced non-hydrogenated vegetable fat. All ingredients are sourced in the UK and are fully traceable.

PubChef verdict: The pastry is brilliant and remains sturdy when you bite. Our favourite flavour was the Shearer pie — British farm-assured lamb, potatoes, garden peas, garlic, fresh rosemary and organic spices. Bonzer.
