Brakes is celebrating collecting nine awards for outstanding new products at the British Frozen Food Federation 2008 awards, including Catering Product of the Year.

The company's real French Butter Brioche Loaf picked overall catering title after winning Gold in the Best Bakery/Pastries Product category. Brakes has now won catering product of the year in four out of the last five years.

Brakes also picked up golds for its Smoked Haddock, Spinach & Gruyere Pastry Bites in the Best Starter/Buffet/Appetiser Product, while British Maris Piper Beefsteak French Fries was judged Best Accompaniment/Potato/Vegetable Product.

There were silver awards for Italian Style Cooked Meat Balls, Moroccan Chicken, Cheese Straws and Brakes Premier Callestick Farm Dairy Clotted Cream Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. A bronze award went to Welsh Lamb Shepherds Pie.

Stuart Smith, Brakes Group commercial, marketing and UK supply chain director, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for which our entire company can feel proud. Also celebrating was the Authentic Food Company, which collected the Gold award in the Best New Main Course / Meal Centre Product for Aromatic Thai King Prawn Curry and Silver in Best New Meat Free / Vegetarian Product for its Sweet Potato, Chick Pea and Spinach Curry.

The Sweet Potato, Chick Pea and Spinach Curry which is made from chunky sweet potatoes, fried and tossed in a rich, smooth coconut-flavoured sauce also won the judges over through its "good authentic flavours" who also commented that it was "nice and spicy and different"

Nik Barsan, managing director, said "We take great pride in our heritage in Indian and Oriental foods, so we are delighted to receive the awards, as we faced strong competition from entries from leading industry players."
