An award-winning Devon pub once owned by TV chef Keith Floyd has come onto the market with Bettesworths.

Formerly Floyd's Inn, the Maltsters Arms has its own private quay on Bow Creek, a tributary of the River Dart in Tuckenhay, four miles from Totnes. Floyd went bust in 1996, but not before Frenchman Jean Christophe Novelli passed through the kitchen.

Current owners Denise and Quentin Thwaites are retiring. The agent said the couple have spent the past decade building the Maltsters into a destination pub for local food, real ales and fine wines.

The site turned over £439,634 last year and produces a "strong" net profit.

The pub has a dining room with 30 covers overlooking the river, a real-ale bar, map room, darts cabin, the "boardroom" private dining area and outdoor areas overlooking the river. Adjacent to the pub is the Old Winery, housing four letting bedrooms and a manager's flat.

The owners' accommodation on the top floor has views over the creek and includes an open-plan living room and kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom.

Matt Bettesworth said: "We are anticipating a lot of interest. A gem as rare as this will always attract buyers. This is a stunning waterside inn — a successful business with a healthy mix of food, wet and letting income."
