Pub food gets Quick & Easy with Booker
Booker has launched a new guide and range of meals aimed at pubs starting to sell food or make more of their menu.
The Quick & Easy Meal Solutions range offers profitable food for pubs to serve with no need for a chef, hygiene certificate or more than basic culinary skills.
Including breakfast, bar meals and main meals, the new guide is available, along with a free point of sale kit, from all Booker branches. The meals have been selected to ensure minimum food handling is required and the only equipment needed is a microwave.
The meals range from a breakfast bacon roll, paninis and minted lamb koftas with sweet chilli dip as bar snacks, to Aberdeen Angus cheeseburger or lasagne main courses. All meals are costed and come with recommended selling prices to help pubs calculate profits per sale.
Ron Hickey, Booker director of catering development, said: "Despite outside pressures of the smoking ban, the credit crunch and increased costs, food still presents a great opportunity.
"By selling just 30 of these meals a day, a publican can put over £20,000 a year in the till."
