First firm has security licence revoked
A Manchester man is the first to have his licence to run a doorstaff firm revoked for not co-operating with the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
Licences are usually re-voked for offences such
as deploying unlicensed doorstaff. But in this case, the unnamed man did not reply to requests for information and access to company documents. He had already received warnings from the SIA for deploying unlicensed doormen.
SIA head of investigation Rachael White said: "We always maintain a fair and just approach to enforcement and work closely with companies and their employees to help them work within the law.
"In this case, the director made no attempt to comply, and by working against us, led to his SIA licence being revoked. We hope this sends a strong message to other non-compliant company directors."
Meanwhile, 33 out of 37 door supervisors checked in an inspection in Bath displayed valid licences.
Three others were warned for working without an SIA licence, and one was warned for not displaying his licence.
