Spirit Group has opened its second Grill House Kitchen pub, bringing the community food brand to its home town of Burton on Trent.

The Corner House has reopened following a £400K refurbishment. The pub was formerly called the Bill Brewer. The new-look pub was officially opened by Burton's mayor, Elizabeth Staples, at a special 'fire and ice' themed evening.

The Grill House Kitchen format offers freshly prepared, charcoal grilled food, along with real ales and wines. The Corner House includes an al-fresco dining area for up to 135 customers, while there is also an outdoor screen showing Sky Sports.

Richard Carter, retail director of Spirit Group, said: "The pub offers comfortable and contemporary surroundings, a fantastic range of food and drink and a great environment for all the family - everything a local pub should offer.

"Spirit Group's first Grill House Kitchen development, the Nag's Head in Derby, has been incredibly successful since it opened in April and we're hoping that the Corner House will mirror this success."
