Thwaites to weave web success with ale delivery

Daniel Thwaites beer will now be available to drinkers across the country at the touch of a button — after the Northern brewer completed a distribution deal to develop its online sales.

The move is set to further enhance the national reputation of Thwaites, which has already enjoyed success in 2008 with a national listing in Waitrose for its Wainwright ale.

Now online beer connoisseurs can use the thwaites.co.uk website to research their drink, before clicking through to a site managed by partner Warehouse Wines to complete their purchase.

Thwaites's top performers Lancaster Bomber, Thoroughbred Gold, Liberation Ale, Double Century and Flying Shuttle are all available, and brands marketing manager Lee Williams believes the partnership is another significant step for the regional brewer.

He said: "Daniel Thwaites obviously has a huge following in the north of England, but we are seeing more and more awareness of our beers across the country and that is creating demand.

"We field calls, emails and correspondence from Lancashire 'ex-pats' on a regular basis, with the majority of them craving Thwaites beers and asking for details of how they can find them. The site will allow customers to pick their own mixed cases from the six different beers, a range that is difficult for any off-line retailer to offer."

And with 37% year-on-year sales growth in Thwaites's premium bottled ales sector, Warehouse Wines managing director Tony Ellis believes that the link with Thwaites is a natural one.

He said: "Online drinks purchasing is becoming more prevalent and we are sure this will be a huge success for both parties."
