Cobra Beer has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with the British Film Institute (BFI).

The deal will see Cobra as the Official Beer of the BFI Southbank complex and all major BFI festivals, starting with The Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival and including the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in March 2009.

Cobra will carry out sampling activity at the The Times BFI 52nd Film Festival, which runs from 15 to 30 October. There will also be the Times Cobra bar at the Icon Bar in Leicester Square's Empire Casino for the duration of the festival.

Cobra will also be available in 20 participating bar and cinema venues across London, which will host around 300 film screenings and special events.

Emily Droy, head of sponsorship at the BFI said: "We are thrilled to have partnered with Cobra Beer. Having previously worked with them for the past three years on a range of projects, Cobra is a brand that has continually demonstrated their commitment and passion to supporting the British film industry."

Will Ghali, marketing director of Cobra Beer, added: "Our association with one of the most important events in the British film calendar showcases the progression of Cobra as a great supporter of the creative arts and allows us to reach our target consumers at premium events."
