Yates's has launched its winter menu - and is running a high profile marketing campaign to let customers know that food prices have not been raised.

The emphasis on value by the high street bar brand is more evidence of the battle for food share being waged in the mid-market by managed pub operators.

Yates's, owned by Town & City Pub Company, is extending its £3.95 meal and a drink lunchtime deal with the new menu. Currently covering wraps, paninis and baguette, the offer will now also include a jacket potato.

The brand's core £5.95 for two meals offer, which already includes classic pub meals such as bangers and mash, scampi and lasagne, is also being extended. New dishes in the deal include chicken tikka masala, a roast vegetable & wensleydale bake, and fish pie.

Yate's is also offering Reggae Reggae chicken, served in either a baguette or with a jacket potato. The spicy sauce created by entrepreneur Levi Roots and featured on the Dragon's Den TV programme, has already appeared on the Slug & Lettuce menu - operated by Town & City Pubs' stablemate company Bay Restaurant Group.

Simon Lucas, Yates's brand marketing executive, said: "Mindful of the current economic environment we wanted to give our customers something to cheer about so we've added and improved our menu, but put a freeze on the prices."
