Robin Hood has all the pies
Robin Hood has a new merry man - and he's brought the pies with him.
Mike Pichel-Juan, known as PJ, has taken on the tenancy of the Robin Hood pub in Boston, Lincolnshire, with family brewer Bateman's.
With an impressive CV which includes stints as an Air Force pilot, interpreter and arms control inspector, PJ has now added pieman as well as licensee to his list of credentials.
He has established a brand, PJ's Pie Pub, and using locally sourced produce has developed a range of gourmet pies.
Pie varieties include venison, duck, and salmon, all served with sautéed potato made to PJ's secret recipe. Customers can phone ahead and order their favourite or take pot luck with the pie of tne day.
PJ's partner Helen Barton has extended the menu to include traditional puddings such as treacle tart and fruit crumbles.
Rob Jones, Batemans profit partnership director said: "When PJ came to us with his pies and unbridled enthusiasm we wanted to support him.
"We are confident that the newly refurbished Robin Hood will thrive under his and Helen's innovative ideas and delicious home cooked fare, as well as provide the perfect accompaniment to Batemans beers."
