With the Government seemingly hell-bent on destroying the pub trade, overheads spiralling out of control, and prospect of financial armageddon threatening to bite in the New Year, The Publican has decided that we could all do with a break from the bad news that currently dominates the headlines.

To this end, we have teamed up with friends of the site, the Junior Ministers, in order to try and have some fun* over the festive period.

The idea is, publicans can help the band make a pop video using photos from seasonal celebrations in pubs across the UK.

Over the course of the next month, we will be requesting you, dear reader, to send in some of the more amusing photos of your Christmas and New Year celebrations. These could be from parties and meals, photos of tacky Christmas decorations, people kissing undesirables underneath the mistletoe, and shots of people generally having a good time in your pub.

These photos will appear in our 'If you were a pub..' Flickr slideshow (scroll down to see it).

Full instructions as to how to send your photos to the slideshow are included below, and you can also have a good listen to the song in order to get your creative juices flowing.

Once all the pictures have been sent in, the festive season has drawn to a close, and we are all out in the street fighting over scraps of food, we will select the best pictures from the slideshow in order to create an edited video for the song, and hopefully, it will give us something to smile about in the New Year.

* N.B. - Before we receive any complaints that The Publican advocates vomiting on pub floors, or putting fags out on pub carpets (chance would be a fine thing!), it should be made very clear that this project is intended to be a bit of puerile fun, and nothing more. If the music, song lyrics, or any of the photographs that accompany it offend you in any way, we can only apologise in advance...
