Tiger Beer added to S&N's portfolio
Scottish and Newcastle (S&N) UK has gone some way towards filling gaps punched recently in its speciality beer portfolio by adding Tiger Beer to its stable.
S&N will exclusively import, market and distribute Tiger Beer in the UK from March 2.
Carlsberg and Heineken's successful joint bid for S&N last year saw Carlsberg taking over brands San Miguel, Baltika, Mythos and Grimbergen from S&N.
Tiger, the UK's number one imported Asian beer, has previously been imported and distributed by Tiger Beer UK Ltd, a company set up in 2005 on behalf of brand owner Asia Pacific Breweries.
The move throws the future of Tiger Beer UK into doubt, although it has also been distributing other niche beer brands.
S&N speciality brands director Jonathan Townsend said: "We are delighted to add the power and potential of Tiger Beer to our portfolio of speciality brands.
"Tiger already enjoys a loyal consumer following in the UK. By accessing S&N's unrivalled on and off-trade distribution network, Tiger will now be able to realise its massive potential in this market."
