Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) managing director of Pubs and Bars Mike Bramley is to retire on 30 April 2008.

Bramley, who will be 58 when he retires, will step down from his position at the end of the first half of the financial year on 11 April and assist in the handover process until he retires.

The Pubs and Bars division will now be consolidated with the Restaurant division under the control of Adam Fowle, who becomes chief operating officer.

Fowle joined M&B in 1985 and was previously managing director of Pubs and Bars between 1999 and 2002. He is now 50 and has been managing director of the Restaurants division since October 2007.

"I would like to thank Mike Bramley for his outstanding contribution to Mitchells & Butlers over the past 29 years and wish him well in his future retirement," said M&B chief executive Tim Clarke.

"I look forward to continuing to work with Adam Fowle to further develop Mitchells & Butlers' strength in the pub and pub restaurant sector."
