Marston's appoints new finance director

Marston's, the brewer and pub operator, announced the appointment of Andrew Andrea as group finance director. Mr Andrea, who will replace Paul Inglett, is currently commercial director.- The Times​

Booze giant Diageo is slashing profit targets and warning of job cuts as stay-at-home Brits spend less on beer, wines and spirits. The Smirnoff, Guinness and Johnnie Walker group said it had to be more "prudent" about growth levels as the recession spreads over Europe. Kate Johnson was swept away by her wedding anniversary celebrations - and so was the diamond from her engagement ring. The mum-of-two realised the £3,500 gem was missing after a night at the Admiral Benbow pub in Penzance. Kate, 45, said: "I thought I'd never see it again." Pub landlady Vera Ghey is refusing to call time — despite turning 100. Britain's oldest landlady has run The Bull's Head for 60 years. Vera took over the business with her late husband Sidney in 1949 and has carried on since his death 30 years ago. - The Sun​
