Marston's, the Midlands brewer, has appointed Andrew Andrea to the position of group finance director, with effect from the end of March.

Andrea, currently commercial director for both the group's tenanted and leased pub arm and the beer operation, replaces Paul Inglett, whose departure was announced last week and who steps down at the end of next month.

Inglett expects to remain with Marston's to "facilitate a smooth handover to Andrew until the publication of the Group's interim results in May", the brewer said in a statement.

Ralph Findlay, Marston's chief executive, said: "I am delighted to welcome Andrew to the board of Marston's. His appointment is a good example of our strength in depth across the business.

"Andrew has proved himself across a range of disciplines, not only in finance, and I know he will make an important contribution to the long term growth of the company."

Andrea, a qualified chartered accountant, joined Marston's in 2002 as divisional finance director for Marston's Beer Company, subsequently becoming operations director for Marston's Pub Company, the tenanted and leased pub division of Marston's, in 2006 before moving to his current role.
