'Arson attack pub to be demolished'

A pub which was severely damaged when a suspected arson attack ripped through Blackpool town centre, will be demolished. Yates's Wine Lodge, a pet shop and other properties were engulfed by the fire in an alley between Clifton Street and Talbot Square on Sunday - BBC ​

Laws banning smoking in public places gave many people the incentive they needed to finally give up. Rising prices and shocking health warnings had failed to persuade many smokers to quit. A man has been treated for facial injuries after he was attacked outside a pub in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire. The 27-year-old was struck with a sharp object outside the Rowantree Inn on Main Street at about 2155 GMT on Sunday. Police said the assault was unprovoked. Detectives believe the suspect was involved in an earlier disturbance outside the bar - BBC​

Sleddale Hall, the Cumbrian farmhouse that featured in the film Withnail & I, sold at auction for £265,000. The starting price was £145,000. It was bought by Sebastian Hindley, who owns the Mardale Inn in the nearby village of Bampton, which also featured in the film. - The Telegraph​
