Pubs looking to add a patrotic touch to St George's Day menus are being offered a solution by Northern Ireland based Linden Foods.

The St George's Gourmet Steak Burger has been developed to meet consumer interest in premium burgers, and carries the EBLEX Quality Standard Mark.

Elaine Willis, new product development manager for Linden Foods, said: "We recognised a growing trend in which customers are increasingly looking for a top quality burger offering. This means a burger with superior taste, texture and flavour that comes with full provenance."

The burger is made from prime Quality Standard beef, blended to give an authentic 'hand-made' appearance, but crucially for pubs retains consistency in size, thickness and eating quality. It also offers an alternative to steak for consumers looking to trade down.

Currently available through Booker, the St George's Gourmet Steak Burger won a 'highly recommended' credit t the recent Northern Ireland Food and Drink awards.

Mike Whittemore, EBLEX retail project manager, said: "Provenance and quality is very much at the forefront of consumers' minds, not just in the retail sector but also when eating out.

"When it comes to premium dishes customers expectations are high, so by choosing a burger which uses Quality Standard beef, pubs can provide customers with the assurances they seek."
