Father proud of twins success

A proud father believes his sons could be the youngest twins in the country to be issued with their personal licences.

Andrew and James Chambers have received their National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, just months after turning 18.

The identical twins both passed the exam in November - a few days after their birthday - and having now received the certificates are set to work with their dad, Gill, at his pub the Black Swan in Seahouses, Northumberland.

Gill said: "I am so proud of them both and think they must be the youngest twins in the country to achieve this.

"We also think they were one of the last to be issued with licences from Berwick Upon Tweed Council before Northumberland Council took over."

He added he now expects the pair to put in the hours behind the pub.

"We are fairly sure Andrew will work in the pub long-term but we don't know about James yet - he has other plans and just helps out here and there.

"It just shows that in these days when all we hear are negative stories about pubs closing there are still people who want to work in this trade."

And Andrew even has ambitions to take over the running of the freehouse his parents have owned for the last eight years.

"I'd really like to buy it," he said, "but whether I can afford it or not is a different matter."

He added that he was not sure working with brother James would work out well.

"As you would expect the pair of us are both extremely competitive with each other and we might just clash if we worked here. We would both want to be in charge."
