Carlsberg UK is bringing its Baltika No.7 brew over from Russia to target "young and urban" UK beer fans.

The 5.5% abv beer, which will be available in the on and off trades from May this year, is described as having a light, crisp and refreshing taste combined with a medium body.

Baltika No.7 originates from Russia's St Petersburg, and Carlsberg took over distribution for the beer from S&N in July last year.

On-trade listings for the brand will focus predominantly on London and the South-East, and Russian-themed sampling activity will take place over the summer months.

"Baltika No 7 is a fantastic addition to our world beer portfolio, and we believe it represents a great opportunity for our on and off-trade customers," said customer marketing director David Scott.

"The world beer sub-category is currently in 11% growth in the on-trade and our research shows that consumers are interested in trying new world beers; Baltika No 7, with its distinctive packaging and crisp, refreshing taste, should prove exactly what consumers are looking for."
