'Gunman jailed for shooting at pub'

A masked gunman who fired shots outside a pub as a warning to another man has been jailed for almost 17 years. Sean McGovern, 25, targeted the Gauntlet Bar in Edinburgh where Jamie Hyland was a regular last September. McGovern was jailed for 10 years for drug dealing and a further six years and nine months for the shooting - BBC ​

Beer sales in the UK plummeted by more than eight per cent in a year, figures revealed today, underlining the ongoing pressure on the ailing drinks and hospitality industry in the grip of the recession. A plan to create booze-free pubs for Preston teenagers has been slammed by alcohol campaigners.
