Marston's Pedigree, the official beer of the England cricket team, is to get a temporary re-branding to coincide with this summer's international Test matches on English soil.

Marston's Pedigree will temporarily set aside its traditional red and gold branding in favour of a flag of St George-coloured design.

The move is a bid to capitalise on a summer of cricketing action that could see cricket fans drawn to watch the sport in pubs. The West Indies side is currently touring our shores, the ICC World Twenty20 competition is coming to England in June and the Australians will hit our hallowed turf in July and August to contest the Ashes.

The limited edition hand pull, as well as promotional kits, will be available to pubs stocking Marston's Pedigree all summer.

Marston's brand manager Des Gallagher said: "Marston's Pedigree is proud to be the official beer of the England cricket team and as one of its true supporters, will don the national colours of red and white on all its packaging throughout June to September in support of the national side."

Marston's has also launched a range of seasonal ales to tie in with the Ashes. In June, 4.2 per cent ABV bitter Lord Taverners Ale will be available. For every pint sold, Marston's will donate 10p to the Lord Taverners Charity, cricket's official charity. This will be followed in July by 4.1 per cent ABV Ashes Ale and in August by Long Hop, a four per cent ABV pale ale.
