The ICC World Twenty20 presents a huge opportunity to attract customers. It's going to be the biggest sporting event of the summer and Pepsi can help you build the excitement, drive customers into your outlet - and knock your profits for six.

To celebrate the event as the official drinks' sponsor to the ICC World Twenty20 tournament, Pepsi has joined up with The Publican in search of the UK's top cricket pub.

Pepsi and The Publican are inviting pubs everywhere to tell us how you use cricket to improve your trade. We're looking for a UK pub that brings cricket to the heart of its business and to its customers through promotions, creating theatre around matches and ultimately driving footfall and profit.

If you're among our shortlist of great cricket pubs, we'll profile you in The Publican and thepublican.com, with the winner being crowned 'Pepsi Cricket Pub 2009' at a VIP day out to the Final of this Summer's ICC Twenty20 World Cup at Lords on Sunday 21st June, 2009

The prize includes a pair of VIP tickets for the Nursery Pavilion with the complete Lords Experience, including:

*Cricket celebrity speakers

* Reserved seating in the mound stand

* Hospitality throughout the day

* Complimentary bar

* Travel for 2 people up to the value of £400.

Closing date is Friday May 29, and the usual competition rules apply.

Kathryn Jones, licensed channel marketing manager for Pepsi said: "We're looking for a UK pub that really brings cricket to the heart of its business and to its customers through cricketing promotions, creating theatre around matches and ultimately really driving footfall and profit for themselves.

"The Publican is an ideal partner for Britvic to really highlight the potential cricket holds for licensees - The Publican is always looking for innovative ideas and advice to help the pub trade, which is especially important during these challenging economic times.

"Cricket is going to be one of the key sporting events of the summer with the ICC Twenty20 cricket championship being held in England this summer. With the end of the football season and no major football tournaments, this is a great opportunity to drive sports fans into the licensed channel over the summer.

"Cricket is the second most watched sport in the world and with Twenty20 cricket increasingly gaining a strong following due to the timing of games at lunchtime and after work which appeals to workers , it's a golden opportunity for pubs to own this new form of cricket and drive footfall during an otherwise quiet sporting summer. With England acting as host we think there will be a real national interest in Twenty20 cricket while its international standing will encourage tourists into UK pubs."
