Sheffield is the latest city to establish a Best Bar None scheme to reward best practice in licensed premises.

The scheme launches on 15 June at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

Best Bar None is aimed at recognising, rewarding and promoting premises in Sheffield that provide a safe, responsible, friendly environment in which people can enjoy themselves.

'Ensuring Sheffield City Centre is a safe and enjoyable place to enjoy a night out is vital to the success of our city,' said Best Bar None project manager Laura Green.

"We can only do that in partnership with the licensed premises in Sheffield. We would encourage all those businesses who are eligible, to enter Best Bar None and demonstrate just how good their premises are."

John Mothersole, chief executive of Sheffield said: "Sheffield already has a safe, vibrant night time economy providing a variety of venues for people who live and visit Sheffield.

"The introduction of Best Bar None will help to reinforce our message of a safer Sheffield as well as recognising those premises who operate high standards."

The overall Best Bar None award will be sponsored by Sheffield based national licensing solicitors John Gaunt & Partners.
