With a string of celebrity regulars and attendant paparazzi, it has become one of London's most fashionable nightspots. But the days of film director Guy Ritchie's Mayfair pub, the Punch Bowl - where Hollywood stars Jude Law and Kevin Spacey like to prop up the bar - may be numbered if a local campaign takes off. Fed up with noise and disturbance, a group of the pub's well-heeled neighbours have submitted a 23-page application demanding a review of its licence. If successful, the Punch Bowl, where Madonna also popped in during her marriage to Ritchie, could be closed by Christmas - The Daily Mail

Girls as young as 11 say they are "severely stressed", drinking so much alcohol they lose control and feel discriminated against, a landmark survey by the Girl Guides has found. Nearly a third of girls aged 11 to 16 and 58 per cent of 16-21 year olds admit to drinking so much that they have been sick or lost control. The study paints a bleak picture of childhood in a society that heaps pressure on young girls to grow up before their time, bombarded by images of airbrushed celebrities and the growing popularity of cosmetic surgery - The Telegraph

Two thirds of pubs targeted in an undercover operation sold alcohol to underage youngsters, police have said. Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police worked with teenagers aged 15 to find out how many would sell them alcohol. The experiment in some parts of Carmarthenshire saw six of the nine pubs tested serving children without asking for any form of identification. Chief Inspector Mark Bleasdale said the results were "disappointing" and similar operations would take place. The premises targeted were in Llanelli, Llangennech, Ammanford, Llandybie, Llandeilo and Llandovery - BBC News
