Tetley's festive Northern Cracker ale exceeded sales predictions over the Christmas period.

The Carlsberg-owned 4.3% abv cask ale, available to the on-trade for three months, was sold in over 800 pubs via both free-trade and national accounts.

"Its success is testament to the hard work and passion of everyone at the Tetley's site in Leeds, where it was conceived, brewed and tasted," said director of brands Paul Davies.

"It is a further demonstration Carlsberg UK's commitment to the cask ale sector and the Tetley's brand. The trade will be seeing a lot more from Tetley's in 2010."

The roll-out of a full programme of Tetley's seasonal cask ales is in place for 2010.
