A Sheffield licensee has accused his local council of damaging his business after publishing an incorrect Scores on the Doors hygiene listing.

The Fat Cat pub was listed as having zero stars — but actually has three.

The Food Standard Agency's Scores on the Doors scheme ranks pub-hygiene levels from information provided by environmental health officers.

The inspection which saw the Fat Cat listed as gaining zero stars took place three years ago. Since then the pub's kitchen was refitted following the 2007 floods.

Dave Wickett, the pub's owner, branded the review "ridiculous". "When I heard, I phoned the environment section straightaway and they apologised profusely.

"I don't know how long this has been on the website. It could have been there for weeks, and we might have been losing custom the whole time. I'm very disappointed in them."

A spokesman for Sheffield Council labelled the mistake "unfortunate", adding that it had personally apologised to the manager. The council is now double checking Scores on the Doors entries to make sure they are up to date.
