A man in Weston, North Somerset has been barred from every pub in Britain.

Garmon Thomas, aged 41 of Stradling Avenue, had been drinking in the Jug and Bottle in Drove Road on 11 February, according to the Weston Mercury.

When he left he began smashing windows and called the police to ask them to arrest him.

He then threatened to pour petrol in his flat and had a 12-hour stand-off with police.

Thomas pleaded guilty to charges of threatening to destroy or damage his own property and endanger life and a charge of causing criminal damage to property.

He was bailed by magistrates to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on 10 March.

Magistrate Ken Freeman said: "Due to the fear of further offences, the nature and the seriousness of the offence, and the fear of failure to surrender, you must stick to the conditions of your bail.

"You are also banned from all licensed premises in the UK and that includes restaurants."
