The chiefs of the three top trade bodies are set to come together for a debate for the first time since the industry's mediation sessions.

Tensions between the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) and the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) have been at an all time high since the groups failed to reach a consensus on how to tackle issues facing the industry at the sessions last year.

However, the BBPA's Brigid Simmonds, Nick Bish of the ALMR and the BII's Neil Robertson will debate life after the latest MP led reports into the industry at the Publican Directors Club on May 24 in London.

One of a host of suggestions raised in the recently published Business, Innovations and Skills committee report was that the groups work more effectively together for the good of the industry.

And the three chiefs will discuss this along with a host of other issues in front of company directors.

Publican editor Caroline Nodder said: "We always ensure we have insightful and relevant speakers at our Publican Directors Club events and this will be particularly fascinating debate considering recent developments."
