Thousands of pubs across the UK are being encouraged to make the most of the nation's greatest horse racing event.

Grand National sweepstake kits are being delivered to 7,500 pubs to help licensees promote the John Smith's sponsored event, which takes place at Aintree on April 10.

There are two types of kit, the first will see pubs given posters and number strips to run a customer sweepstake while the other will include William Hill bet vouchers that will be given out when a pint of John Smith's is bought. The vouchers can be redeemed at William Hill bookmakers throughout the UK.

Gareth Turner, John Smith's senior brand manager, said: "The branded sweepstake kits and the promotion with William Hill will help us to increase awareness and add value to our sponsorship of the Grand National for customers and consumers."
