A group representing pub gaming machine operators has invited prospective MPs to meet members to discuss the challenges the industry faces.

The Independent Operators Association has written to prospective candidates asking them to pay a visit to their local machine operator to discuss pressing issues including the rate of pub closures and the Amusement Machine Licence Duty.

"As a national organisation the IOA has a business presence in 19 separate parliamentary constituencies with seats held by the Conservatives, the Labour Party, Liberal Democrats, the SNP and two Independents," said IOA chairman John Powell.

"It's very important that the IOA Group is able to use its national presence to ensure that the interests of the sector remain on the radar of politicians and the main political parties."
