Former Greene King Pub Partners Managing director David Elliott has joined a Cardiff-based property with plans to expand into pubs.

Elliott, who stepped down at Greene King earlier this year, has become chairman of property management company Quercus Capital.

The company has unveiled plans to take on more than 200 leased or tenanted pubs over the next 18 months in South Wales and the South of England.

Elliot, who worked at Greene King for 11 years and oversaw the growth of its tenanted and leased business from 620 pubs to more than 1,300 sites, said he was excited at the prospect of working for a start-up company.

"I have been involved in transactions for Greene King and Scottish & Newcastle over the years but I have never been involved in the creation of a business from scratch."

He added that the company was now looking at various pubs across the country and developing a "new type of agreement" for potential licensees.
