Former Mitchells & Butlers executive Chris Gerard is to reopen the Wellington, a Greene King leased pub, in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, on Monday.

The pub was badly damaged in a fire in June last year and Gerard, who runs the innovative managed multiple Innventure, said: "Re-storing this beautiful medieval building to its original 'inn' status has been no mean feat.

"We have many new and exciting additions including a new fireplace, new terrace and a new bar — and, of course, a new roof!

"We have improved the range of beers, wines and daily specials on offer.

"What excites us most are the six beautiful new bedrooms, painstakingly restored to reveal all the old features, yet providing all the comforts of modern-day living."
