A Lincolnshire council has bought its local pub and plans to turn it into a community centre.

Holton-le-Clay Parish Council bought the closed Etherington Arms from Punch Taverns for £181,000, and now hopes to involve local residents in turning it into a community facility.

Council clerk Betty Gash said the site had changed hands a number of times in the past two years, and had arrived on the market in October 2009.

She said the building would now be used for council offices, along with a youth centre and function suite.

The decision to buy the pub was made via a public meeting, and the committee plans to reopen it within three months.
