Yorkshire brewer Timothy Taylor has reported a recession-beating set of results for its most recent financial year.

The company saw turnover rise from £20,738,866 in 2008 to £22,676,813 in the year to 30 September 2009.

Timothy Taylor, which produces Landlord bitter, the favourite of Madonna, saw pre-tax profit climb to £3,204,553 from £3,149,380 the year before.

Dividends of £687,809 were paid during the year compared to £653,418 the year before.

The company took on an extra eight staff during the year to employ a total of 187 people.

Total directors remuneration came to £353,820, a rise from £308,115 the year before — it appointed former Mitchells & Butlers chief executive Tim Clarke as a non-executive director earlier this year.

Timothy Taylor set aside £670,065 in 2009 for capital expenditure.
