Johnnie Walker maker Diageo is plugging its pension black hole with whisky. The world's biggest drinks firm has come up with an innovative plan to reduce its £862m pension deficit by using barrels of maturing Scotch as collateral. Pensioners are not about to receive their weekly stipend in drams, instead Diageo will pass 2.5m barrels of drink, worth £500m, into the control of the trustees of its retirement scheme - Daily Mail
