Alan Parker, the outgoing head of Whitbread, is to lead a key gathering of senior pub sector executives this autumn.

The FTSE 100 chief executive will be the keynote speaker at this September's UK Pub Retail Summit, a one-day seminar and congress, organised by Morning Advertiser and M&C Report.

In what will be one of his final major addresses as Whitbread boss, Parker will reflect on his tenure at the helm of the leisure group and consider the key challenges facing the pub industry, and the wider leisure market.

The day will focus on retailing and explore cutting-edge operations. It will look at the key issues impacting the market, such as latest consumer behaviour and the impact of new technology, such as mobile phones.

Parker will be joined by a clutch of other leading speakers from the sector. Speakers include:

• Amanda Coldrick, divisional director, Mitchells & Butlers

• Jonathan Downey, managing director, Match Bar Group

• Simon Ewins, director of business development, Whitbread

• Paul Hemming, partner, Zolfo Cooper

• Crawford Hollingworth, chairman, The Futures Company

• John Hutson, chief executive, JD Wetherspoon

• Sarah Kellett, business development director, Fujitsu

• Adam Martin, marketing director, Mitchells & Butlers

• Jillian MacLean, managing director, Drake & Morgan

• Scott Seaborn, head of mobile technologies, Oglivy UK
