Licensees can now get free business advice from the Pub Assist website, which launched last year.

Pubassist.co.uk previously charged £40 for a year's membership but has scrapped the fee following a successful first year.

The website provides licensees with tips and guides on everything from health and safety and stock-taking, to calculating gross profits, negotiating supplier deals and employment advice.

It has a directory of entertainers and suppliers, a menu-building facility, a function to help design marketing materials and even a facility to help members build their very own pub website; it also offers subscribers the opportunity to download quizzes.

"Here at Pub Assist we are all very excited about the coming year, especially the fact that, in the current economic climate, we are now able to offer the website to our readers for free," said Pub Assist CEO and founder Jason Tring.

"Since our original launch back in February 2009, the feedback from our members and the pub trade has been extremely positive and encouraging."

The website will be continually updated.
