The founder of the British Larder, a website for foodies, has opened a Suffolk pub.

Chefs Madalene Bonvini-Hamel and Ross Pike have taken over the Punch lease of the Cherry Tree pub in Bromeswell, near Woodbridge, Suffolk.

The pub will be renamed British Larder Suffolk and open for business at the end of July. The site will accommodate 50 covers, and the pair aim to complete a full refurbishment, including extension of the dining area, in early 2011.

Food writer and consultant Bonvini-Hamel will continue with the British Larder website, adding new recipes and sharing her experiences from a career in cooking on the site.

The menu will focus on produce from local suppliers and includes Suffolk-reared pork T-bone chop, crackling & Kelsale spelt & roasted apples; Pinney's of Orford smoked salmon plate, capers & lemon; lavish east coast lobster macaroni bake; and old-fashioned English custard tart, salted caramel walnuts & tipsy pudding with vanilla cream ice.

Bar snacks feature crispy pigs' cheeks with home-made ketchup.
