Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal has officially re-opened a Buckinghamshire pub after a £50,000 revamp.

Heston Blumenthal has officially re-opened a Buckinghamshire pub after a £50,000 revamp.

The Firefly in Bourne End has been refurbished to soundproof the restaurant room, which also hosts entertainment.

The work has been paid for by Punch, owner of the leased pub, as part of its Investment for Growth scheme.

Blumenthal, a local at the Firefly, turned up at the reopening.

Licensee Tricia Harwood said: "It was great to see everyone enjoying the recently refurbished room in the pub, and having Heston there to officially open it made the occasion even more special.

"We are renowned for our live music but we wanted to make sure that we weren't disturbing any neighbours so we had our new music venue sound proved by installing double glazing and sound proof doors.

"We aim to attract people of all age groups and have ensured we have kept a traditional side to the pub with an open fire for our older guests to enjoy."
