Local Heroes Pub Company, which runs 18 pubs in the north-east, has collapsed into administration.

The company, which ceased teading last week, ran outlets within Northumberland, Durham, Teesside, North & West Yorkshire.

Two iconic York pubs hit by the move were Tap And Spile, in Monkgate and the Golden Fleece.

Local Heroes sought to operate the best pub in the local marketplace by most effectively meeting the Consumer needs.

The directors of Local Heroes are Bill Overin, Andy Mullin and Ian Perrett, who met when they worked together at Century Inns.

According to news reports, an automated voice message on the headquarters phone number states: "Unfortunately, Local Heroes Pub Company ceased trading at nine o'clock on Thursday, November 25."
