M&C Report, in partnership with its sister title the MA, is running a one-day conference exploring the opportunities afforded by London 2012.

The 2012 Olympic Games will descend on London in just over 18 months.

This once-in-a-lifetime sporting extravaganza will offer a unique chance for hospitality and leisure businesses to engage and entertain millions of visitors.

M&C Report, in partnership with its sister titles the Morning Advertiser, Restaurant magazine and BigHospitality, is running a one-day conference exploring the opportunities afforded by London 2012.

This event, at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London on 31 January 2011, will bring the hospitality and leisure industry together for a key day packed with compelling insight and ideas on how businesses across the country can claim the gold in 2012.

Making the keynote presentation on the day will be Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for the Department of Culture, Media & Sport and the minister responsible for the Games.

Other speakers will include Ufi Ibrahim, the chief executive of the British Hospitality Association, and Len Olender, a director at Sportsworld, who has worked on every Olympic Games extravaganza since Atlanta in 1996.

Senior figures from a range of operating companies, including McDonald's, Malmaison, Novus Leisure and Travelodge, will be gracing the conference stage while John Burton, development director at Westfield, will be presenting his

company's current development, Stratford City — a key food and drink hub during London 2012.

There will be workshops for delegates to attend covering marketing, licensing and training, plus a British Food Fortnight showcase.

"London 2012 represents a fantastic opportunity for this industry to show the world that British hospitality is up there with the best," said Mark Stretton, M&C Report's editor and conference chairman.

"With nine million visitors expected, there is also a big commercial prize for those companies that gear up for the greatest show on earth."
