The Mayor of London's key man for the 2012 Olympic Games is to speak at a forthcoming event for the hospitality industry hosted by M&C Report and the Morning Advertiser.
In his role as programme director for the Greater London Authority City Operations, Vince Fihosy has responsibility for delivering the Mayor's vision for London at the 2012 Games - not just the competitions themselves but the entire visitor experience from the airport to the hotel to the stadiums - and London's array of leisure attractons.
He is to be a key speaker at the forthcoming conference Hospitality: getting in shape for 2012, which takes place in London's Westminster on January 31, and has been organised to explore the many opportunities this once-in-a-lifetime event will offer pub and restaurant companies, individual operators and suppliers.
Fihosy will outline how the city will be presented for the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the bespoke visitor attractions, and how the Mayor's Office intends to operate a big mature city such as London though what promises to be an extraordinary event.
He will also explore the logistical elements of the Games - how people will move around the city, where the fanzones will be located and the Mayor's approach to public transport.
Fihosy will join a number of high profile speakers on the day. Also taking to the stage will be: John Penrose, the tourism minister; David Fairhurst, head of people for McDonald's Europe; Guy Parsons, chief executive of Travelodge; and Ufi Ibrahim, the chief executive of the British Hospitality Association.
There will also be workshops, discussion panels and a number of companies unveiling their plans to maximise the London 2012 opportunity.
This event is being organised jointly by M&C Report, the Morning Advertiser, Restaurant magazine and Big Hospitality.
