Carlsberg UK has announced a wholesale price rise of 5p per pint.

Carlsberg UK's rise, which is duty inclusive and amounts to 3.5% across all its brands, will take effect from Monday 31 January.

In a statement, the company said: "CUK have worked hard to minimise the level of this increase through ongoing efficiency improvements, but the significant raw material, packaging material and transportation cost inflation that CUK is currently facing has meant that the company have had to try and recoup at least some of this inflation through raising prices.

"We understand the current trading environment is not easy so we will continue to do all we can to minimise any future increases."

Last month another major supplier, Diageo, announced a 5% wholesale price rise (excluding duty and VAT) for Guinness from 1 February.
