Preston-based pub group Amber Taverns has acquired the Lamplighters pub in Castleford, West Yorkshire for an undisclosed sum.

The Lamplighters is a traditional town centre community wet-led pub and a refurbishment of the trading areas is to be carried out as soon as possible, with the pub set to reopen early next month.

"The Lamplighters is a traditional wet-led public house offering versatile accommodation and ideally situated within the town centre to attract custom throughout the week," said Martin Stansmore, associate director at Christie + Co.

"The property attracted strong levels of interest as soon as it was placed on the market. A deal was agreed after a short marketing period and the sale completed swiftly. It is great to see public houses being retained for the local community."

Last October, Christie + Co advised private equity firm LGV Capital on its secondary management buyout of the 50-strong Amber Taverns.
