Award winning London bar group Drake & Morgan has revealed its fifth site, set to open at the end of May, will take inspiration from Istanbul and Beirut.

The group, led by Jillian MacLean, has taken a 5,700sq ft site at the Heron Tower office building, which is located in Bishopsgate in the City of London.

Heron Tower, which will be 46 storeys high, will also feature a restaurant and sky bar on levels 38 to 40 when it opens later this year.

The 250-cover site, called The Drift, will include two bars spread over two floors, an open plan kitchen with a chef's table and an al-fresco area.

The design has been undertaken by Fusion Design and Architecture and boasts floor-to-ceiling widows to provide natural light.

Drake & Morgan scooped the Best Design award at the MA200 awards last year.

The upper level bar will provide a clear view of Europe's largest privately owned aquarium in the main lobby of Heron Tower.

The menu will feature seasonal produce with dishes ranging from morning brunch and light lunches to sharing plates and mains. Average price per head is expected to be around £20.

"Since the successful launch of The Folly and The Anthologist, both in the City, customers have been giving us some great feedback and we know there is scope to develop cutting edge bars in the Square Mile," said Drake and Morgan managing director Jillian MacLean.

"Having visited Istanbul and Beirut for inspiration we aim to provide the City with a refreshingly independent bar that includes a couple of unexpected touches."
